"Ayaka's Surprise English Lesson" ran from 2001 to 2002. It was a section on the show Bishoujo Kyouiku (and Bishoujo Kyouiku II) hosted by Ayaka. In it she would try to give a Morning Musume member an English lesson by catching them between the filming breaks of Haromoni.

In the early episodes Ayaka would spring surprise lessons on the members by catching them, sneaking up on them, grabbing them or getting their attention in anyway she could. She would then give them a "useful" English phrase for them to learn. After getting them to repeat the phrase from her card she'd give them it to use as a ‘study card' to help them remember. At the end of this first series there were tests for each member on the phrases they'd learnt. If they remembered them right they got to eat a food prize Ayaka had brought along, but if not they get shot at with the roulette balloon gun. The roulette gun is a toy gun with a balloon on the end. There's a wheel on it that is turned round, and if it's pointing at a certain point it'll pop the balloon when the trigger is pulled.

The next series changed slightly. Now Ayaka would only talk in English throughout the lessons. She'd ask the members questions in English and they'd have to try and answer back in English too. If they actually managed to reply correctly then they'd get rewarded with a food prize. If they were wrong, or couldn't understand at all, Ayaka would just give them the card and be on her way! Later in this series Ayaka brought her drawing pad long to the lessons. Now she'd again ask a question in English but the member would have to draw their answer. Ayaka would then tell them how to say what they'd drawn in English and they'd have to repeat it.

In 2002 the format changed again. This time Ayaka had opened a café! Now she had an easy way to lure in Morning Musume members – food! She'd call over members to serve them the food they wanted, and just as they thought it was safe, Ayaka would get them to turn to the "Special Menu"... The Special Menu was a list of phrases in English with the Japanese written next to it. Now the members would have to choose a phrase, written in Japanese, from the menu and Ayaka showed them how to say it in English. After repeating the phrase they got to eat. After a visit to the café the members knew what to expect so didn't want to come back again! Realising she needed to change tact, Ayaka changed her café to a mobile one and took the food on special delivery to their changing rooms. Like the first series, this series ended in more tests, the prize this time being an invitation to the opening of Ayaka's new Chinese restaurant...

The last change was only slight. Ayaka's café turned Chinese! Now the table had wheels so Ayaka could sneak up on the members wherever they were. The "Special Menu" was still there, so again each member had to choose a phrase from the menu to say in English. After successfully repeating a phrase and learning a bit about it they'd get a pick of one of three Chinese foods to eat.

Bishoujo Kyouiku II ended in late 2002, so the English lessons had to too. Over all there were 206 episodes made (not counting the reviews).

Two special episodes are where Ayaka's Surprise English Lessons were hijacked by Tsuji who turned them into "Nonno's Surprise Dancing Lessons". Nonno decided to turn the table on Ayaka here and snuck up on her to teach her dances. The first was near the end of 2001, and part two was near the end of 2002. In 2006 three DVDs of Ayaka's Surprise Englsih Lessons were avaliable to members of the Hello! Project Fan Club.
